Visitor Arrivals in February 2012

The advent of Spring has brought in a surge of foreign visitor visitors in nepal. According to latest figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) tourist arrivals via air have increased by 13.7 percent to 42,716 in the month of February 2012 as compared to the same month last year. South Asian segment has registered a positive growth of 20.4 percent with India, a major market for Nepal, recording a positive growth of 28.8 percent. Visitor arrivals from Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Thailand also increased by 33.2 percent, 19.8 percent 31.5 percent and 7.9 percent respectively. European markets posted a positive growth of 17.5 percent with arrivals from UK, France, Germany, Italy Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia up by 9.8 percent, 8.8 percent, 3.0 percent, 31.2 percent, 87.9 percent,42.4 percent, 34.3 percent, 35 percent and 6.8 percent respectively. Arrivals from Australia and USA also showed an increase of 18.5 percent and 10.4 percent respectively.
