Tourist Arrival Figures Soar
The figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) reveal that visitor arrivals in the month of October 2009, compared to the same month last year, have increased by 10.8% to 56,009. This is the fifth consecutive month Nepal has witnessed positive growth in the international tourist arrivals. The growth in India and China has been major contributing factor in overall increase in the visitor arrivals.

In October this year, there has been a robust growth of 20.1% and 116.4% in visitor arrivals from India and China. In aggregate the Asian segment has registered a positive growth of 41.2%.

An overall positive growth of 9.9% has been observed from the European markets with arrivals from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands up by 4.3%, 6.6%, 5.8%, 2.3% and 13.6% respectively.
Tourist arrivals from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA have also registered robust growth of 20.6%, 21.3% 21.3%, and 14.3% .
