Three passes trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Ri

Ms. Frost Henriette, Ms. Holck Connie Johannseon and Mr. Holck Flemming from Denmark through our exclusive country partner Kipling Travel arrived to Nepal on March 9, 2013. They were in Nepal to experience the adventurous fun in the Himalayas during their Gokyo Ri and Everest Base Camp three passes trek. Here, we have an interesting experience of three enthusiastic trekkers.

The weather conditions did not favor them to begin the trek on time. Hence instead of twin propeller they took the heli ride to Lukla on 12 March-two days later to their schedule. However, they were fortunate enough so they made to Lukla. Their trek began really well from Lukla. However, their misfortune stroke back again in the form of heavy snow fall. They were not in the stage to cross Kongma La Pass in such circumstances. Furthermore, Ms. Connie Holck and Mr. Flemming were not feeling well at Dingboche, hence the group decided to split up. They made the route maps to take two different courses and meet up in Gokyo.

As the group broke up at Dingboche Ms. Connie and Mr. Flemming descended down towards Phortse via Pangboche and rose up to Gokyo on March 23 via Dole and Machermo accompanied by the trek guide Mr. Bharat. On the other hand, Ms. Frost accompanied by Sherpa staffs took the normal route to Everest Base Camp traversing through Lobuche and Gorakshep. Finally as per the plan she crossed Cho La pass and made to Gokyo on 23rd to meet her friends.

At Gokyo all three trekkers trekked up to Gokyo Ri. After Gokyo Ri Ms. Connie got on the retracing path to Lukla straight away whereas Mr. Flemming and Ms. Frost crossed Renjola Pass and got to Thame with the trek guide Mr. Bharat. On March 26 the whole team reunited again at Namche from where they descended down to Lukla. On March 28, they flew back to Kathmandu by a helicopter.

Before the departure, they were pretty much satisfied with Explore Himalaya. They said “Though the trip was little bit zigzag it was wonderful. We were bit unlucky with the weather so we will be coming next year. We are truly satisfied despite of weather not at all favoring us. Nothing could have been done in such conditions. We are truly overwhelmed to our Guide Bharat and all the Sherpa staffs. Thank you so much.”

On April 1, 2013 they made the exit back home with the mixed experiences rooted in their hearts and minds.
