Nepal Tourism Road Show was organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with Nepal's private sector tourism industry in USA recently. The road show successfully promoted destination Nepal among American travel agents and tour operators. The tourism road show with the theme ‘Experience of a Lifetime’ was taken to different American cities from May17th -24th, 2012. On May 17th the road show was held in Los Angeles, on May 18th in San Francisco, at Seattle on May 21st, at Washington DC on May 23rd and at New York on May 24th. The Great Himalaya Trail and Visit Lumbini Year 2012 were specially promoted during the road show.

Visit Lumbini Year 2012 promoted in South Korea
A promotional programme highlighting ‘Visit Lumbini Year 2012’ was organized by Nepal Embassy in the South Korean capital Seoul recently. A talk programme with the theme “Lumbini Nepal and Korean Buddhism,” which saw the participation of senior Korean monks, representatives of Indonesian and Indian Buddhist organizations, Nepalis government officials as well as the members of Nepalese community was held as part of the promotional programme.

One of Asia’s best gift to the world is Buddhism. Based on Lord Buddha’s teachings of ‘Ahimsa’ (non-violence) &’ Dharma’(truth), Buddhism spread from Nepal and India to the rest of Asia and the world. Lumbini, the Birthplace of Lord Buddha, which lies in Nepal, has become a major centre of pilgrimage for Buddhists worldwide. In an article posted in bbc.com/travel entitled ‘10 Sites of Religious Pilgrimage,’ Lumbini together with Mecca, Vatican City, Golden Temple, Badrinath, Wailing Wall etc. has been listed as the 'must-visit' pilgrimage destination.
In order to promote Lord Buddha’s birthplace and his message of peace, Nepal’s government has declared year 2012 as Visit Lumbini Year.

Visit Lumbini Year 2012 promoted in London
Nepali embassy in London recently organised an event on 6th March 2012, to mark the launch of Visit Lumbini Year 2012 and closure of Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011. Nepal’s ambassador to the UK, Dr.Suresh Chandra Chalise addressing the gathering at the embassy premises at Kensington Garden informed that success of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 had encouraged Nepal government to declare 2012 as the Visit Lumbini Year. Prominent British travel writers, photographers and journalists attended the event. The Great Himalaya Trail was also promoted during the event.
