Trekking journey to Poonhill.


Ms. Mira Fromberg and Mr. Stefan Hartmann from Denmark were on the foothills of Annapurna at Poonhill on May 26, 2012. They were here to enjoy their short vacation  through our exclusive country partner Kipling Travel. After their memorable trek in the mesmerizing places around the great Annapurna region, they were back at Explore Himalaya with their feedbacks.

Poonhill Trek.


Ms. Laursen Louise and Mr. Nissen Michael headed to  Nepal through our exclusive country partner Kipling Travel. Explore Himalaya  guided these two Danish visitors during their trekking exploration to Poonhill in the great Annapurna region. The trekking Poonhill offers lots of hilarious walk through the dense rhododendron forest, the encounter with the Gurung culture at Ghandruk and obviously the mesmerizing views of the majestic Himalayas in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri regions including the unique Mount Fishtail. Ms. Laursen and Mr. Nissen came back to the office of Explore Himalaya with  feedback regarding their entire stay in Nepal once their trek was over.

Poonhill Trek with the best guide.


Ms. Rikkie Sick Andersen and Mr. Jonas Balodis Olsen made few comments on their tour to Nepal last autumn. They came to Nepal through our Exclusive country partner Kipling Travel for the trekking expedition to Poonhill in the Annapurna region. They also spent time at Pokhara and Chitwan.

Here goes their comments.

“As we checked out of the airport terminal we met Sabin. Sabin was friendly and highly experienced . He made sure that we could call him any time. We had a very warm welcome”.

“Best part of the tour was that we had the best tour guide (Sanu) and the porters as well. Meals were fine and the services during the trek were amazing. We are impressed, we had the incredible vacation on the base of Annapurna”.

Mr. Troels Andersen and Ms. Benedikte Durbahn  wanted to trek to Poonhill in the Annapurna region. Poonhill trek highlights the excellent views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna and Fishtail. Apart from that the sunrise at the hill is an exceptional view also the cultural exploration in the traditional Gurung village Ghandruk is beyond imagination. Kipling Travel our exclusive country partner arranged the tour for two Danish visitors.

They had the warm welcoming session at the TIA, Kathmandu by the EH representative on November 19. They chose to drive in a car to Pokhara on 20th. Pokhara is the naturally blessed city 200km west of  Kathmandu. It is the highly recommended point as a starting place for the treks to the Annapurna region. On the 21st, their GAP trek began. The first day trek brought them to Ulleri 2020m.

Ulleri is normally a first night stoppage during the trek to Poonhill. The second day of the trek ascended to Ghorepani 2874m. On 23rd, the trekking trial brought them to Poonhill 3200m. Poonhill provides the spectacular mountain views and it also links the trial to famous Annapurna Base Camp. It is also regarded as one of the best view points in the entire world. It is one of the most visited places by the trekkers in Nepal.

Next day, they descended down to typical Gurung village, Ghandruk. The villagge is enriched with ancient Gurung culture. Amongst the dense vegetation, the traditional houses with welcoming inhabitants lures every visitor at least for night stay. Gradually, the trekkers came down to Shyauli Bazaar on 25th. Next day, on 26th they trekked down to road on the Highway from where they were escorted back to Pokhara.

Explore Himalaya’s representative was once again at TIA arrival terminal to welcome our valued guests through Kipling Travel Denmark. Ms. Laura Bastholm Hentzer and Ms. Lone Bastholm Hentzer arrived Kathmandu on October 15. After, the sightseeing around Kathmandu Durbar Square on the very day they went to their hotel for the well earned rest. On October 16, the sightseeing tour around the historic city Kathmandu continued. The holy heritage sites Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath were on the list that day.

On 17th, senior Bastholm with little Bastholm flew to Pokhara. Pokhara is the tourist city 200km west to capital. It itself is a great tourist destination with bounty of natural beauties and it is also the best starting option for the treks in the Annapurna region. Laura and Lone drove to Nayapul the following day and right away began their trekking expedition to Ulleri.

For the next five days the unit of two were recreating themselves trekking on the foothills of great Annapurna region. They took the way from Ghorepani to Poonhill. Poonhill is the fantastic view-point on the region to view the striking views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges along with the most unique and sacred Himalayan peak Fishtail.

On the descending way, Bastholms stopped for a night at the culturally blessed Gurung Village Ghandruk. On 23rd October, they were back at Pokhara after the most memorable tour in the mountains.

Annapurna region is one of the best trekking destinations in Nepal. Explore Himalaya has been the widely preferred and recommended guide in the region.


Poonhill Trek: a mesmerizing journey.

Ms. Johanne Kristen Andersen and Mr. Henrik Neils Zimmermann increased the visitors list from Denmark with our exclusive country partner Kipling Travel. The Boeing with Kristen and Henrik landed on the Nepalese Airfield on July 21. They toured around the prehistoric metropolitan Kathmandu on the arrival day and the following day. Their keenness in acknowledging the ancient culture and the civilization of the ancestors of the city was fulfilled to the mark.

The ancient inventive arts in the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur and spiritually valued temples and Monasteries like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Changunarayan provided them the sensation of picking the perfect holiday location. On 23rd they took the flight to Pokhara. Pokhara is a small tourist town 200km west to Kathmandu.

Unlike, Kathmandu Pokhara is a popular destination to witness the beauty in nature. Lakes, caves, falls and hilltops for the glorious mountain views is the specialty of Pokhara. On July 25, they drove to Nayapul and instantly started their trek to Ulleri 2020m, a first view of Annapurna south. On July 26, the hike continued towards Ghorepani. Ghorepani 2874m, is a village within the Annapurna Conservation Area and it is the major trial linking to Annapurna Base Camp.

On 27th after the very short pre-dawn trek the Danish trekkers were at Poonhill 3210m. – Poon Hill (Pun Hill) which is located in Annapurna region, is truly called as all the best of the trekking in Nepal. On the 28th the trekkers started to descend down to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a popular village among trekkers as it provides the luring hospitality culture of the Gurung habitats there with the abundant possibilities of accommodation.

Next day, the keen Danish travelers were back in Pokhara after the grand trek along base of Annapurna range with spectacular mountain views, charming villages, dense Rhododendron forests and of course the picturesque view of unique Fishtail.

Trek to Poonhill.

Four Danish Dominos, Mr. Asger Domino, Ms. Gitte Domino, Ms. Emma Domino and Ms. Caroline Domino were in TIA, Nepal on October 12, 2012. They had arrangements with Explore Himalaya for the trek to Poonhill. After spending the free day in Kathmandu, they had the flight to Pokhara on October 14.

They were escorted to their hotel Fishtail lodge; a lodge in the middle of a Fewa Lake. On October 15, their gap trek to Poonhill initiated from Nayapul.  They trekked for the next 5 days. Their trek was arranged with the best possible lodges on the way. They had the wonderful time in the mountain villages like Ghorepani, Poonhill, Tadapani, Ghandruk Pothana and Dhampus.

They used their time during trek in viewing the incomparable views of the Annapurna ranges, Dhaulagiri ranges and the unique Fishtail and the nature full with beautiful mysteries. They had the big time in getting closely acknowledged with the cultures of different ethnics in the habitats of these regions, especially Gurungs.  On October 20, their trek came to an end and the same day they flew to Kathmandu. After, 8 days of the most beautiful moments in the highlands of western Nepal they departed on October 21.
