Langtang Trek: Shortest approach to Himalayas

Nineteen miles north of Kathmandu, Langtang Valley nestles in the shadow of Langtang Lirung [7246m], the highest peak in the region. The trek along the valley which borders Tibet is the closest to snowy mountains from Kathmandu. After nine hours drive you get to Syabrubenshi, the trek starting point for the Langtang Valley. Following the trail upstream Bhote Koshi river through ethnic Tibeto-Tamang villages, lush vegetation and the wide spread Kyangin valley surrounded by snowy peaks from all  sides, takes you up to Kyangin at 3800 meter, where you get an opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m.], for 3600 panoramic view of the mountains.

Mr. John Christensen led nineteen Danish trekkers to Langtang Valley this November. Mr. John on the behalf of the group through our exclusive country partner Kipling Travel wrote a few lines on the trek and Explore Himalaya’s service.

Working together with our guide Pasang Sherpa and the other staffs to accomplish the trek is the best memory of the trek. Sabin, our Tour Officer handled the group very well with the best hotel, transportation and other facilities throughout the trip.

I would recommend the fellow trekkers to simply enjoy the trek as the guides and staffs of Explore Himalaya are extremely good to make your trip in Nepal extraordinary.

Langtang trek- Easy Access from Kathmandu

Unlike the Everest and Annapurna regions, Langtang is located closer to Kathmandu and hence easily accessible. The region protected by Langtang National Park since 1971, has been now a major tourist destination because of the range of treks it offers. The home to a valley and a mountain of the same name the conservation area has five climatic zones, and a diverse mix of flora and fauna. Scenic mountain views and insight into the cultures and practices of its native Tamangs are also the major highlights of the trek. The sacred Gosainkunda Lake, the Kyanjin Gompa and Singa Gompa, the historic Rasuwa Gadi fort and Tatopani (natural hot springs) are other highlights of the trek

Kyanjin Ri 4350m was additional highlight and set goal for Ms. Deborah and Mr. Loren Sorensen during their trek to Langtang Region this autumn. Sorensens from Denmark through our exclusive country partner Kipling Travel enjoyed the 3600 view of Langtang Himalayan region dominated by Langtang Lirung 7246m from the summit of Kyanjin Ri.

Sorensens had to say something on trek and Explore Himalaya’s staffs before they departed back home.

“Nita, our tour officer was organized and she received us right on time. Amar was enthusiastic and he briefed us very well on trek. Our trek guide Merman was great. Every moment of the trip has been special and trek part to Kyanjin Ri has been the best of the bests. We had a great time.”
