According to figures released by the Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), visitor arrivals to Nepal in the month of May 2011 has risen considerably, by 47.1 percent as compared to the same month last year. Arrivals from the South Asian segment have registered a positive growth of 71.5 percent, with India the major market posting a robust growth of 78.4 percent. Arrivals from other Asian countries also recorded a remarkable growth of 63.9 percent with arrivals from China growing to 101.1 percent as compared to the same month last year. Similarly, the arrivals from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and South Korea have also increased by 134, 115.7, 78.3 and 94.1 respectively. An overall positive growth of 10.5 was observed from the European markets while tourist arrivals from Australia, New Zealand, USA & Canada showed an increase by 53.2, 129.7, 19.4 percent & 13.5 percent respectively.
