Figures released by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) reveal that visitor arrivals to the country in April have increased by 34.3 percent to 51,969 as compared to the same period last year. The South Asian segment has registered a positive growth of 32.5 percent, with India recording a growth of 38.3 percent, Sri Lanka 83.9 percent, Bangladesh 4.9 percent and Pakistan 4.1 percent. Arrivals from other Asian countries also recorded positive growth of 18.4 percent. While visitor arrivals from China soared by 42.2 percent, arrivals from Japan, Thailand, Singapore and South Korea grew by 13.1 percent, 5.6 percent, 37.3 percent and 3.7 percent. The European markets showed an overall growth of 45.4 percent with arrivals from UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia up by 56.2 percent, 30.4 percent, 47.7 percent, 7 percent, 49.5 percent, 58.6 percent, 70.5 percent, 23.8 percent and 16.5 percent. Tourist arrivals from Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada also increased by 47.3 percent, 46.7 percent, 25.7 percent and 36 percent.
