Nepali adventurers Sano Babu Sunuwar and Lakpa Tsheri Sherpa have bagged National Geographic Adventure’s ‘People’s Choice Adventurers of the Year 2012’ title. They were selected through online voting on National Geographic Adventure’s website for their daring three month long (April – June 2011) adventure that included an Everest summit, a paragliding descent from the top of Mount Everest and a long-distance kayak from Nepal to the Bay of Bengal. Sunuwar and Sherpa completed their adventure on a shoe–string budget without any help from corporate sponsors. By receiving more than 72000 votes the duo clinched the title. On the fray were 11 other individuals who were selected for their extraordinary achievements in exploration, conservation and adventure sports.
