What Is ITE Hong Kong?

First launched some 40 years ago, the annual ITE in 2026 is its 6th live edition since Covid-19. Asia’s leading international travel fair, ITE has been maintaining separate programs, promotions and days for trade and public visitors including in pandemic years.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal received more than 1.147 million inbound tourists in 2024, of which the number of Chinese tourists surged by 67.3% to 101,879, which is a significant growth driven by China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) (Chan & Bhatta, 2023). This is significant for the Nepal Tourism Industry and for Nepal as a tourism destination. In January 2025, the number of Chinese tourists increased by 12.7 percent over 2024, further highlighting the deepening tourism cooperation between China and Nepal. In recent years, Nepal has accelerated the upgrading of the hotel industry, and international chain brands such as IHG, Marriott and Hilton have entered Nepal. Over the 2024-2025 period, Nepal added more than a dozen four and five-star hotels, increasing the annual capacity to 3.5 million visitors. As one of the most popular tourist destinations offering adventure tourism of different types in Asia and even the world, Nepal offers countless possibilities for tourists to explore (Nepal, 2016). The government has actively promoted the integration of “cultural tourism and sustainable tourism”, and developed diversified tourism products such as hiking tours and wildlife viewing tours. In addition, Nepal is not only famous for mountain climbing, but also offers a variety of adventure tourism activities, including rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, and bungee jumping (Aryal, 2019).

As one of the international financial and trade centers, Hong Kong embraced with an excellent economic basis, coupled with the convenient travel passport visa-free policy which covers more than 170 countries and regions worldwide, making Hong Kong residents’ average outbound travel frequency and consumption ranking among the top in the world. In 2019, Hong Kong’s per capita outbound travel consumption reached 3,586.7 US dollars.

According to the 2024 Hong Kong Outbound Tourism Report, from January to October, Hong Kong residents made 85.18 million outbound trips, which is a rapid growth compared with last year. Although the overall market has recovered well, the recovery rate of outbound travel package tours is still relatively slow, only recovering to about 50 percent before Covid-19.

Additionally, according to the Updated Report of Local Tourism Industry in Hong Kong, three characteristics of destination: the attractiveness of attractions, the price of destination tourism products, and whether or not to require visa are the three main factors for Hong Kong residents to choose outbound travel destinations. In the post-epidemic era, Hong Kong tourists outbound travel purposes are more diverse, including solo travel, in-depth travel, and cultural experience.
