Suman Pandey Elected as Vice Chairman of PATA International

In a landmark achievement for Nepalese tourism, Mr. Suman Bikram Pandey, Chairman of Explore Himalaya Group, has been elected as the Vice Chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) International HQ for the 2024–2026 term. Endorsed at the PATA AGM on June 7, 2024, this appointment marks the first time a Nepalese representative has held such a prestigious high-level position in the world’s largest tourism association. Mr. Pandey’s elevation to Vice Chairman follows his successful tenure as Secretary/Treasurer of PATA HQ and decades of leadership as the former Chairman of the PATA Nepal Chapter and the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN).

With over 35 years of experience, Mr. Pandey is a visionary who has consistently pushed the boundaries of adventure tourism. He was the mastermind behind the historic 2009 Everest Cabinet Meeting, the pioneer who introduced skydiving to Nepal, and the initiator of the Himalayan Travel Mart. His new role at PATA International further solidifies Explore Himalaya’s influence on the global stage, ensuring Nepal plays a leading role in shaping responsible and sustainable travel policies across the Asia Pacific region.
