GOKYO, KALA PATTAR & EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK (19 days)

An outstanding trek visiting all of the high valleys of the Khumbu with time to explore villages and monasteries and to sample the incredible hospitality of the Sherpa people.

Flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, we trek slowly up the Dudh Kosi Valley to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. Time to acclimatize before following the quiet trail to Thami village in the Bhote Kosi Valley and visiting the ancient Buddhist monastery here. Descending to Khumjung we are treated to incredible views of Kangtaiga and Thamserku and the Nuptse-Lhotse wall with Everest rearing above. At Khumjung we camp below Khumbila Peak, home of the patron God of the Khumbu, before making our way up the Dudh Kosi Valley to Gokyo's alpine lakes and an ascent of Gokyo Peak [18,000ft./5496m.]. The views from here are tremendous, a 360 degree panorama of snow capped peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and many more.

From Gokyo we rejoin the main trail to Everest Base Camp after crossing famous 5330 meter Cho La pass. Our route provides a magnificient approach to the Khumbu glacier with unbelievable vistas of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. We follow the Khumbu glacier, first to Lobuje and on to Gorakshep. Our camp here gives us the opportunity to ascend Kala Pathar [18450ft./5554m.] for even more spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including Everest South-West face. We also have a day to visit Everest Base Camp at the foot of the immensely impressive Khumbu ice fall.

Our descent will take us to Dengboche in the Imja Khola Valley before returning to Lukla via Thyangboche and Namche Bazaar. A flight to Kathmandu concludes another spectacular trek to the top of the world.
