 May 26, 2008:- Latest update from our 7 Summit Everest Expedition Team
According to a call received from the members, they have reached Camp 2. Tomorrow they shall be climbing down to Base Camp. By 28th May they plan to be back fly back from Pheriche- Lobuche and finally to Kathmandu.
Breaking News - May 25, 2008: 7 Summits Team Reaches the Everest summit at 6:40 a.m.
The two member team of the Danish Everest expedition , Soren Smidt & Henrik Kristiansen of 7 Summits, reached the summit of Everest this morning at 6:40 a.m.(local time). With them were four Sherpas:1. Serap Jangbu Sherpa(sirdar) 2.Lakpa Naru Sherpa 3.Temba Sherpa ,and 4.Pemba Tenzing Sherpa.
23 May, 2008: 7 Summits Team
The team arrived in Camp 3 yesterday. Today they will rest in C3 and leave for C4 (South Col) early tomorrow morning.
22 May, 2008: Our (EH's) Sherpas - Some of the first to reach the summit
Explore Hiamalya's climbing Sherpas have been some of the first to reach the Everest summit this season. Namgyal Sherpa, who climbed with Project Himalaya, was one of the first to set foot on top of Everest this season. He reached the summit on 20th May at around 3 p.m. On 21st May, Cheney Palden Sherpa, Pasang Gongbu Sherpa and Jangbu Sherpa reached the summit at around 11- 12 a.m.
21 May, 2008: PH Team Summit Everest
On 21st May at around 11-12 a.m. the team from PH has been successful in their Everest mission. The climbers who were successful in reaching the top are: 1.James S. Mcguiness (Leader) 2.Mr.David G.Cole(Australia)3.Andrew J.Falgate (USA) 4.Anselm Murphy (Ireland).
21 May, 2008: Successful Test Jump at Shyangboche by the High & Wild Skydiving Team
 On 14th & 15th May the managing team from High & Wild for Everest Skydive held a test skydive over Shyangboche airport. On 14th May, around 9:15a.m. two members, Ben Ian Wood and Andi Montriou flew on an army helicopter piloted by Col.Pramod Lama and his assistant Major Subash Thapa to a height of 16000 ft and skydived. Though it was windy, the divers were successful in landing safely at Shyangboche airport. The feat was again repeated the following day (15th May) at 8:30 a.m.by Nigel Gifford and David Ian Wood. Nigel Gifford , the Managing Director of High & Wild, who is 60 plus, was delighted with the jump. He opened the parachute after a free falling of about 8-10 seconds. It was the first ever program of skydiving in the everest Himalaya to take place. After a successful dropzone test, the upcoming Everest Skydive mission (Autumn 2008) sure looks like a winner! - View the full photo gallery
19 May, 2008: PH team in Camp 3 (7,150m)
Project Himalaya team is now in Camp 3. Other groups at camp 3 include the Altitude Junkies and Mountain Madness. Their joint team of Sherpas shall complete the fixing of route to the south summit by today.
19 May, 2008: 7 Summits Team
Henrik is in Camp 2, while Soeren is making his way up there from camp 1. They prefer to make it to the summit in the second wave (after 23rd may), after the big groups have done it.
18 May, 2008: PH Everest Expedition
The team is heading up to Camp 3 today and will stay there for two nights. The sherpa team carried two loads to South Col, and have all the oxygen and tents, gas and stoves in place ready.
One of the members, Raphael, unfortunately aggravated an old knee injury while making his way to Camp1 yesterday. So he has returned to BC. He won't be able to make the summit bid with the rest of the team.
17 May, 2008: 7 Summit Update
Henrik is still in Camp 1. The good news is, Soeren is feeling a lot better and is on his way up to Camp 1.Tomorrow morning they will go to Camp 2. Jangbu carried 4 oxygen from Camp 2 (6400m) to Camp 4 (South Col, 7900m).
16 May, 2008: 7 Summit Team
Henrik arrived in Camp1, after climbing the Ice fall, at 10:30 am. Soeren is still at BC and will be there for two days.
16 May, 2008: PH Everest expedition
The Project Himalaya team is heading up to Camp 2 today and will stay there two nights. The team has tentatively chosen 21st or 22nd May as their summit date.
15 May, 2008: KT Baruntse expedition - A Success!
Explore Himalaya is happy to announce that success of KT Baruntse Expedition.3 members of the expedition summitted the Baruntse peak 7,220m (23,688 ft) on 15th May at 10:45 am (Nepal time). The names of the members to make it to the top of the summit are:
1. Mr.BO BELVEDERE CHRISTENSEN –Leader (Denmark )
2. Mr.MARTIN CEDERKRANTZ (Denmark)
3. Ms.ANNY KVITHYLL (Norway)
Among the climbing staff, Lhakpa Dorje Sherpa (Sirdar), Pem Chhiri Sherpa (climbing sherpa) and Bal Bahadur Lopchen made it to the summit. Congratulations from EH to the whole team!
14 May, 2008: 7 Summits Everest Expedition in EBC
Henrik and Soeren are in EBC. They chartered a helicopter from Lukla to Lobuche where Serap Jangbu (sirdar) was waiting for them. From Lobuche they trekked to Gorak Shep(on 12th May).On the 13th they trekked to EBC from Gorak Shep.
11 May, 2008: Members of 7 Summits Return to Nepal After Summitting Mt.Elbrus(5642m) in Europe
Soeren Smidt & Henrik Kristiansen, members of 7 Summits Everest Expedition are back in Kathmandu, after summitting Mt Elbrus in Russia on 8th May'08. Mt.Elbrus, located in Russia, is the highest peak in the Caucasus and Europe with an elevation of 18481ft/ 5642m. The two members shall be flying to Lukla today to resume their Everest climb.
9 May, 2008: EH's Everest Expedition Update
9th May, 2008 : We have news from our expedition groups that the way to Camp 3 has been cleared today. Work is underway to clear the path to Camp 4.
9 May, 2008: 7 Summit Everest Team
Sherap Jangbu Sherpa , the sirdar of 7 Summit Everest Expedition will reach Camp 2 tomorrow. On 11th May he will go to Camp 3 ,after which he will be returning to Base Camp to meet the members.
8 May, 2008: Nepal Reopens the Summit of Mount Everest
Nepal has reopened the summit of Mount Everest to climbers on its side after a Chinese team carried the Olympic flame to the world's highest peak. The mountaineers at Everest Base Camp are now resuming their ascent from today, according to Nepal's Tourism Ministry. Nepal blocked access to the summit in March amid Chinese fears that Tibetan activists might stage a protest. Following this announcement, our three Everest expedition teams now proceed to climb further.
8 May, 2008: Olympic Flame Reaches the Summit of Everest
Chinese climbers bearing the Olympic flame have reached the summit of Everest. Chinese television showed the climbers, carrying special high-altitude torches, reaching the summit at 0920 local time (0120GMT). The team, made up of both Tibetans and Han Chinese, set off before dawn from their camp at 8,300m. Low winds and a clear sky provided perfect climbing conditions for the six-hour ascent of the 8,848m (29,030 feet) high summit. Security was very tight for the event, with other climbers being banned from the top of Mount Everest, which lies on the border between Nepal and Tibet, in China.
May 2, 2008 - Good Tidings for Mountaineers - Nepal Govt. Reduces Mountaineering Permit Fees
The Government of Nepal has announced heavy reductions on all the Mountaineering Peak Permit Fees for the permitted Himalayan peaks in Nepal. The revisions reflect a reduction of 50 % during the autumn season, and 75% for the summer and winter seasons including Mt. Everest effective from 16 July 2008. Nepal Government has also announced waiver of permit fees for five years from 16 July 2008 for all peaks in Mid-West and Far West Nepal. This is great piece of news for all mountaineers and climbers, because now they have access to some of the greatest mountains at a nominal permit fee.
May 1, 2008 - KT Baruntse Group move to Baruntse BC
The KT Baruntse Group, after completing their acclimatization climb in Mera Peak, proceeded to Baruntse BC today.
